Dr Samira Asma is the Assistant Director General for Data, Analytics and Delivery for Impact at the World Health Organization where she leads WHO’s efforts to use timely, reliable and actionable data to drive progress towards the Triple Billion targets
[1] and SDGs.
Samira has more than 25 years’ experience developing partnerships and leading public health programmes and policies. Prior to joining WHO, Samira served in leadership positions at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention where she established global programmes on tobacco control, noncommunicable diseases, environmental health and injuries. Samira is internationally recognized for establishing global surveillance systems to drive public policy and has contributed to more than 100 publications, books and policy papers.
