Watch the recording of this session on YouTube here.

The DHIS2 community acted swiftly to accelerate case detection, situation reporting, active surveillance and response for COVID-19 by leveraging existing processes, networks, capacity and systems.

Early lessons learned are discussed from the rapid deployment of DHIS2 global public goods in 36 countries. Sri Lanka shares its pioneering role in customizing DHIS2 for COVID-19 Surveillance during the initial few weeks of COVID-19 pandemic and how on-the-ground experience guided the development of DHIS2 standard metadata package for COVID-19 Surveillance.

Uganda shares how the country leveraged its existing eIDSR platform in DHIS2 and further innovated for the demands of the COVID-19 response. Foundational to this success have been long-term investments in building national capacity, disseminating WHO data standards, and strengthening integrated disease surveillance.

Data eXchange Platform: Connecting Data Systems to Facilitate HMIS Integration and Triangulation
Have a question for the panel? Ask it in the DHIS2 Community page.
------
Join the live Zoom session
here.

The Data eXchange Platform (DXP) is a novel approach to data exchange and integration with the aim of integrating robust data from external data systems into HMIS to facilitate triangulation, data use and data quality checks in a systematic and sustainable way. To do this, an intermediary platform has been developed in DHIS2, which calls data from global databases, reshapes them into an HMIS-compatible data standard that can be imported into national HMIS, and customized to meet a range of national/subnational use cases. Once fully developed, this pathway will also provide a mechanism through which countries could report routine data to increase representation in the global database and potentially reduce the burden of routine global reporting. This session will present an overview of the DXP concept and approach, including practical use cases and applications, roadmap and current progress as well as plans for field testing and country implementation in 2020.
